Ordering home STI testing kits by Phone or On-line
STI Screening
If you are worried about or think you might you might have contracted
HIV or a STI. If you have recently been exposed to the risk of an STI
or wish to discuss screening, testing and treatment you should do so now
as early advice, testing and treatment is important. By visiting us at
the clinic we diagnose quicker and therefore provide treatment sooner.
However, should you not be able to get to our clinic, we strongly recommend
testing by PCR as an alternative.
It is possible for us to screen for many of the common STI's based on
an urine sample test kit ordered over the phone or via our website using
a laboratory technique called Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).
PCR is a molecular technique that allows a small amount of DNA to be amplified
exponentially. Many bacteria and viruses contain specific sequences of
DNA like a genetic fingerprint which can then be identified by PCR. Seven
tests can be carried out by PCR for the following infections: Chlamydia,
Gonorrhoea, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, Gardnerella, Trichomonas & Herpes
Simplex I/II. These results are of course confidential and will be
sent by text or e-mail.
We do not supply home testing kits for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis A,
B or C. We cannot supply STD certificates for home testing kits.

Testing too early
Testing too quickly after you have run a risk of infection may result
in a false negative (no infection found) result being given to you as
infections may not show up on the test for some weeks. Although you should
contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible if you have been at
risk, when performing laboratory testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
for example it is recommended that you additionally test two weeks after
your risk (sex with the person you are worried about).
Getting Tested
You can order PCR testing kits from Clinic Express in two ways:

to order:
1 Test, 2 tests or 7 tests PCR testing Kit.
You will be asked for the name, address, date of birth and the gender
of the person to be tested.
Please state how you wish to be notified.
Payment will be taken via credit / debit card.
A unique clinic number will be generated which you must keep for future
reference.
Your PCR test kit will be sent to you by 1st class post*
Follow the clear instructions included with your home test kit and send the sample directly to our laboratory using the pre-paid envelope included.
You will usually be notified of your results within 3 working days.

What if the results are NEGATIVE?
If the results are NEGATIVE we will notify you by your chosen method.
You will not require a consultation but we would be happy to arrange one if you wish to discuss them or any other issues or concerns.
What if the results are POSITIVE?
If the results are POSITIVE we will notify you by your chosen method.
We can then arrange for a consultation and treatment either in person
or over the phone at Clinic Express. Alternatively you can make your own
arrangements for further management and treatment as you wish.
